Poseur Table Buying Guide

\n

Poseur tables are tall, round tables used for standing receptions, cocktail events and exhibition stands. This guide covers sizing, height standards, materials and when to choose a poseur table over a standard dining table.

\n\n

What Is a Poseur Table?

\n

A poseur table (also spelled "poser table") is a tall round table designed for guests to stand or lean at rather than sit. The name comes from the French "poser", to rest or place — guests rest a drink or plate on the table top without needing a chair. They're standard equipment at drinks receptions, networking events, trade show floors and festival bars.

Standard Sizes and Heights

\n \n \n \n \n \n \n
HeightTop diameterTypical use
110cm (cocktail height)60–70cmSeated bar stool pairing, longer events
150cm (bar height)60cmStanding receptions, exhibition stands, outdoor bars
\n

150cm bar height is the most common commercial standard — it clears most adults' hip or lower-chest level without a stool. A 60cm round top holds two to three drinks or canapé plates comfortably; four guests can stand around one table without crowding.

Materials and Finishes

\n

Commercial poseur tables are almost always steel frame construction — a weighted or wide-foot base for stability, with a round MDF or laminate top. Metallic silver and black are the most common trade finishes because they suit both corporate and social events without clashing with branding or decor. Tops are usually finished to accept a standard stretch cocktail tablecloth, which covers the frame entirely for a clean look.

Poseur Table vs Dining Table

\n
    \n
  • Poseur table: standing use, faster guest turnover, better for mingling and networking, takes less floor space per guest than a seated table.
  • \n
  • Dining table: seated use, needed where food service or longer dwell time is expected.
  • \n
\n

Many events use both — poseur tables in a drinks reception area or exhibition aisle, dining tables in the main seating zone. See our Event Planning Guide for layout ratios.

\n\n

New vs Ex-Hire Stock

\n

Ex-hire poseur tables are a cost-effective option for venues and hire operators building up stock — frames and tops are structurally fully functional even where there's visible surface wear from previous use. If you need cosmetically perfect stock for a specific brand environment, ask about new-build options when you enquire.

Buying in Bulk

\n

Trade buyers typically order poseur tables in multiples of four or six to match standard drinks-reception layouts. Volume pricing applies from 10 units — contact our trade accounts team for a bulk quote.
