Description
Mushroom Patio Heater (13kW)
A 13kW LPG propane gas patio heater with the distinctive mushroom-shaped reflector head. Heat output radiates downward and outward in a 3–4 metre radius from the central column. Overall height: 220cm. Width: 40cm. Depth: 40cm. The 81cm mushroom reflector at the top directs infrared heat toward the ground, warming people and surfaces rather than heating the open air above.
Outdoor use only. The heater runs on standard propane gas bottles concealed in the base compartment. Integrated wheels allow repositioning without lifting. Part of the EventPro® range.
Heat Output and Coverage
13kW of heat output covers a radius of 3–4 metres around the heater. One unit warms a circular zone of about 28–50 square metres depending on wind conditions, ambient temperature, and the presence of windbreaks. Position heaters at the perimeters of outdoor dining areas, along the edges of terraces, or in the centre of small courtyard spaces.
For larger areas, use multiple heaters spaced 6–8 metres apart so the heated zones overlap. A typical pub garden terrace requires 3–5 units to maintain comfortable temperatures through a British autumn evening.
The Mushroom Reflector
The 81cm reflector head concentrates heat downward in a cone shape. This is more efficient than radiant bar heaters or open-flame designs that lose heat upward into the atmosphere. Guests sitting or standing within the cone feel direct warmth on their head, shoulders, and upper body.
Construction and Operation
The column is powder-coated steel. The base compartment conceals a standard patio gas bottle (not included). A piezo ignition system lights the burner without matches or lighters. The flame control adjusts heat output from low to full 13kW. Integrated wheels on the base allow one person to tilt and roll the heater between positions.
Typical Uses
Pub gardens extending their outdoor season into autumn and winter. Restaurant terraces maintaining covers through cold evenings. Corporate hospitality events with outdoor drinks receptions. Festival VIP areas. Wedding evening receptions in marquee entrance areas. Hotel courtyards and rooftop bars.
Buying in Bulk
If you are buying two, four, or ten heaters, start with the guest count and the shape of the site. A small pub terrace may need two units at opposite corners. A long drinks reception for 150 guests may need six or eight units spaced across the edge and centre zones. Buyers for hotels, wedding venues, councils, universities, and NHS sites often hold one spare heater and spare gas stock so a cold snap or a busy event week does not leave an area short of warmth.
You can pair mushroom heaters with gazebos, windbreaks, poseur tables, outdoor sofas, and queue barriers. Heaters work best when you use them to anchor zones where guests pause, talk, and finish a drink. If wind cuts across the site, use screens, planters, or side walls to protect the heat cone instead of pushing the burner count without a plan. Staff should keep access to exits, service doors, and gas change routes clear at all times.
Layout Planning
You should map heater positions before guests arrive. In a 100 person terrace setup, teams often place units around the perimeter, then hold the centre for circulation and standing tables. Keep a clear route of at least 1.2 metres to fire exits and avoid bottlenecks near bars or smoking points. If your venue uses gazebos or awnings, check the head height and side clearances so heat and crowd flow stay under control. A tight cluster of heaters can leave one corner too hot and the next corner cold, so use even spacing and let the heat zones overlap.
The 13kW output matters in practice because guests feel radiant heat on skin and clothing, not warm air drifting above the roof line. The large reflector pushes heat down where people stand or sit. The weighted base helps stop sway when guests brush past the unit or when crews move it across paving. Integrated wheels matter on reset days because staff can tilt and roll the heater instead of carrying a tall metal column through crowded furniture.
Care and Service Life
Staff should wipe the outer surfaces, inspect the hose and regulator, and check the reflector bolts before each event run. After wet weather, dry the unit before long term storage. If a venue runs heaters through autumn and winter, stock teams should check ignition, flame quality, and wheel fixings during routine counts. Buyers who keep the heaters under cover between uses and train staff on safe gas bottle changes get longer service and cleaner ignition across the season.
