Ex-VAT Pricing Explained for Business Buyers

Every price on our site is shown ex VAT, the standard convention for a B2B supplier. Here is what that means for your actual invoice.

Why ex VAT is the default

Our customers are overwhelmingly VAT-registered businesses, venues, event companies, hire firms, who reclaim VAT on purchases. Showing ex VAT prices means the figure you see matches what the purchase actually costs your business once VAT is reclaimed, rather than a retail price that does not apply to you.

What gets added at checkout

UK standard-rate VAT, currently 20%, is added at checkout on top of the ex VAT price shown on every product and category page. A product listed at £100.00 ex VAT is £120.00 inc VAT on your invoice.

Reclaiming it

If your business is VAT-registered, the VAT charged on your order is reclaimable in the normal way through your VAT return, your invoice itemises the ex VAT total and the VAT charged separately for your records.

Not VAT-registered?

If you are buying as an individual or a non-VAT-registered business, the inc VAT figure is your actual cost, check the inc VAT price shown alongside the ex VAT price on each product before ordering.

On your invoice

Every order confirmation and invoice from us breaks out the ex VAT subtotal, VAT amount, and inc VAT total separately, so there is no need to calculate it yourself.
